LITTER ORDINANCE AND ITS FINES PASSES UNANIMOUSLY

The Township Committee voted unanimously to implement the new ordinance that will require all property owners to keep the sidewalks and gutters in front of their property free of litter or face fines ranging from $100 to $500.

The 5-0 vote puts the ordinance into place.

But the TC delayed a vote on another ordinance that would require Maplewood Village businesses to have garbage picked up four times per week.

In a statement to Maplewoodian.com, Township Clerk Liz Fritzen said:

" The solid waste pick ups ordinance had a substantive amendment regarding those with compactors, and it is going to be republished with the changes, and on final/hearing on September 4th.  So it did not pass last night."
