DUNKIN DONUTS THREATS

Scanner reports police asked to look for a male who allegedly threatened to shoot Dunkin' Donuts employees at Springfield and Laurel Sunday night.


He apparently was told to stay away from the closed Blimpie side, and allegedly said, "Do you want to get shot?"


Then fled. No weapon shown.

SCHOOL SURVEY IS IN

Key findings of the latest survey of faculty and residents.


According to the Community and

Scanner shows police looking for a clean-shaven black man with a hoodie on Springfield Ave. Unclear for what....Many police cars seen about an hour ago roaming the area near College Hill...

NEWARK BEARS DOWNHILL

A big group from Maplewood went to the Newark Bears game Saturday evening. We had fun with a great group that included Tuscan parents, others from Girl Scouts and SOM softball. Fun fireworks and exciting ball.


BUT, I must say something about how they have let the experience go downhill. There were only two food stands open out of four, causing big lines and angry fans. The between innings features for kids were lame and they ran out of rosters, with no programs at all - these help you learn about the young players.


Not to mention that the scoreboard did not work well and one of the two men's bathrooms had no water for the sinks. They also had no ATMS in the place.


You wonder why they do not draw well. It is things like this.

DENCO ROBBED

Got the word from PATCH tonight. 


The Denco station on Spfld Ave, was robbed of up to $1,000 by two armed men.


No injuries so far.

Getting the biggest thunder storm in years today, be ready for scared kids -- and some adults.

LIQUOR CABINET ON THE BLOCK

The great wine and booze shop on Springfield Ave. near Yale St. is on the selling block, owner Carlos Ferreira tells us.


Having opened the store some four years ago, he says he and his wife are relocating out of state. Any interested buyers, give 'em a shout.


In the meantime, give 'em some business, too.

BAD ACCIDENT AT MAPLEWOOD/SO BORDER

PATCH reports:

A three-car accident has left three people injured, one possibly gravely, at the intersection of Wyoming Avenue and Lenox in South Orange.

The crash occurred around 2:40 p.m.., and South Orange police and fire officials are referring questions to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.

FARMER'S MARKET COMING

Just got this notice....

Maplewood’s Farmers Market will begin its 17^th Year of business starting this Monday June 13^th and every Monday thereafter through October 31^st. Open from 2 to 7PM the market located on Springfield Avenue at Indiana Street in the municipal parking lot will offer fresh fruits and vegetables from two NJ farms, fresh breads and other baked goods, all sort of pickled products, and Italian specialty foods. New to the market this year will be fresh gelato and later this month, a stand offering middle-eastern food including homemade falafel.   

BURGLAR CAUGHT

Four police cars spotted at Tuscan and Bowdoin this morning. Cops on the scene said a burglar caught at a nearby house.

HEAT ADVISORY FOR SCHOOLS

Superintendent of Schools Brian Osborne just issued this heat advisory. It appears to indicate you can keep students home Thursday if you wish because of the heat:

The district will operate on a regular schedule tomorrow, June 9, when temperatures are expected to rise again.  We ask all staff to limit physical activities for students and to ensure that students remain hydrated.  Students may bring recyclable or plastic water bottles to school tomorrow (no glass, please).  Parents may sign their children out if conditions pose individual concerns.

Yes, got the robo call from Mayor Vic De Luca on Saturday, urging me to vote for him and India Larrier.


Called back the cell phone number it came through on, but no answer.


Did you get the call? and would it make you more or less likely to vote or him?

ACCIDENT

Some kind of accident on the scanner at Meadowbrook, appears to be possible hit and run or pedestrian hit.

ILLEGAL SIGNS REMOVED

Not sure who put them up, or took them down, but the illegal campaign signs urging a vote for Dems on Line A, have been removed from utility poles on Springfield Ave.

Found several of these signs urging to vote Line A Democrats - that would be Vic de Luca and India Larrier - along utility poles on Springfield Ave.


Not sure if the candidates had anything to do with it, but they should be removed.
