TOWNSHIP STATEMENT ON IMMIGRANT RESOLUTION

Following last week's Township Committee approval of a resolution supporting immigrant protection in town, the Township issued this statement about the legislation:

Welcoming Community Resolution

During the past two months, the Township Committee has been working diligently towards the creation of Resolution 3-17 Expressing Maplewood’s Commitment to Equal, Respectful and Dignified Treatment of All People, Regardless of their Immigration Status and to Remain a Welcoming Community.  This resolution is a means of officially identifying Maplewood Township as a welcoming community.  The Township Committee along with the Township officials will continue to provide outstanding service to its residents regardless of their racial, ethnic, religious or national background.  All efforts from Township officials will be in accordance with local and state laws separate of any federal immigration laws.  Maplewood Township will remain and as it always has, a welcoming community embracing its diversity
