Just sent out from Town Hall....

Updated: November 7, 2012

The DeHart Community Center at 120 Burnett Avenue is open as a shelter and charging station.

Located at 120 Burnett Ave. the Community Center is open and operating as a shelter/ warming station.  You can also use the center to charge your electronic devices but there is no WiFi access. Food is available. Those wishing to sleep at the shelter must bring their own blankets, pillows, medications, toiletries and entertainment.
Pets are welcomed but must be leashed or crated.
If you have power, please check in on elderly or special needs neighbors who may need assistance and spread the word about the shelter.  A list of warming stations is also available at Town Hall.
Given the extreme cold weather conditions, go to the CDC Guide to Health and Safety during Extreme Cold:http://emergency.cdc.gov/disasters/winter/pdf/cold_guide.pdf
Things to be aware of:
·         In cold weather, wear layers of clothing which help to keep in body heat.
·         Carbon monoxide poisoning: To prevent carbon monoxide poisoning, use generators, pressure washers, grills, and similar items outdoors only.
·         Safely use candles around the home to prevent injury or damage due to fire.
