ANOTHER SIGN THE STATE IS RIPPING OFF OUR SCHOOLS

The recent school budget aid plan from the state offers no increase in what the South Orange-Maplewood School District receives in state aid.

So we thought we would see how others are doing.

A comparison with Montclair, often seen as a similar city, finds a big disparity.

While the two districts are similar in size, Montclair receives about 60 percent more state aid than we do.

The State Education Office data reveals SO-M receives just over $4 million in state aid, about $597 per student, while Montclair sits at $6.5 million or $963 per student.
