ENOUGH ALREADY WITH ROBOCALLS AND POLLING PLACE ELECTIONEERING

A supporter campaigning outside The Woodland polling place
Since Monday night, we have received no fewer than seven robocalls urging us to vote for someone, in some cases more than one for the same candidate or slate. Do these robocalls really work?

Do you vote for someone because a recorded voice asking for your vote tells you to?

I have had candidates tell me that robocalls do not really work for this reason. But all should still vote and with such beautiful weather today there is no excuse not to get out.

Another at the Prospect Church polling site

Another complaint was raised as we spotted supporters of at least two different candidate slates standing outside of polling locations at The Woodland and Prospect Church, with signs urging people to vote a certain way.

State law allows you to do so if you are more than 100 feet from the entrance. But in both cases, the electioneers were standing on the sidewalk just outside of the path leading to the door of each location. Legal, but pushy.

Both of these practices seem a bit overbearing. Let people vote in peace.
