MAPLEWOOD COPS GET NEW FOUR-YEAR DEAL, 8.75% RAISES

The Township Committee on Wednesday night approved a new four-year contract with the police union that will give the cops an 8.75% pay hike over the life of the agreement.

The TC voted, 4-0, with Kathy Leventhal absent, to okay the deal.

"This is a terrific agreement and it's in line with our cap, our 2% cap," said Mayor Vic Deluca. "We thank our police officers for thier commitment to our Township. This was really a cooperative effort."

The contract with PBA Local 44 and 44A takes effect on January 1, 2016, and offers a 2% raise for each of the first two years, 2.25% the third year and 2.5% the final year.
