SABIN, MAINI WIN BIG IN SCHOOL BOARD RACE; PAI PLACES THIRD

Maini and Sabin celebrate Tuesday night
In a race that saw nine candidates vying for three seats on the Board of Education, the team of Chris Sabin and Annemarie Maini took the top two spots, with incumbent Madhu Pai coming in third.

Sabin of Maplewood and Maini of South Orange garnered nearly 3,000 votes each in one of the most heated school board elections in years.

While Pai came in third to grab the last seat, her running mate, Board President Wayne Eastman, came in a close fourth but lost.

Such results mean we will have two new school board members as well as a new board president when the board chooses a new leader after its reorganization meeting.
