TWO SPRINGFIELD AVENUE BUSINESSES HIT BY THIEVES, ONE ARREST IN BUSY POLICE WEEK

From Maplewood Police today:

January 8, 2016; Attempt Robbery; At approximately 5:15 PM, a black male in his 40’s entered the Echelon Hair Salon on Springfield Ave.  The male appeared to look at a few items and then put his hand into his jacket and announced a robbery.  When the actor discovered there was no money in the register, he attempted to steal a cell phone.  The actor then fled the scene on foot without any proceeds.  No one was injured.

January 8, 2016; Theft of Trailer; Sometime over the previous day, a trailer was stolen from Camptown Rd.

January 10, 2016; Robbery; At approximately 6:10 PM, officers responded to the Walgreens on Springfield Ave on a report of a shoplifter attempting to flee.  Upon their arrival, it was discovered that the actor had attempted to steal over $200 in over the counter medicine and had pushed an employee that attempted to stop him out of the way.  Officers were able to locate 42 year old Frank Wiley of Irvington as he attempted to flee on Tuscan Rd.  He was identified as the actor and charged with robbery.  No one was injured.

January 10, 2016; Attempted Burglary; At approximately 11 AM a resident of the 100 block of Lexington Ave reported that someone rang her door bell.  When she did not answer she heard a loud bang on the side door.  Damage to the door was observed consistent with someone attempting to make entry.

January 10, 2016; Attempted Burglary; At approximately 12 PM a resident of the 80’s block of Parker  Ave reported that someone rang their door bell.  A few minutes after not answering the door, they heard a loud bang on the side door.  Damage to the door was observed consistent with someone attempting to make entry.  The individual that rang the door bell was observed to be a black female in her twenties with red hair.
