MAPLEWOODIAN.COM WINS SECOND STATE JOURNALISM AWARD

We are proud to announce that for the second year in a row Maplewoodian.com has won a prize in the New Jersey Society of Professional Journalists annual awards.

Our coverage of the alleged bullying allegations against former Columbia High School baseball coach Joe Fischetti, which ended with his departure from the post, took Third Place in the Local Journalism: Best Local News category.

NJ SPJ judges described the reporting as: "strong continuing coverage of an ongoing issue involving a local coach. Good use of a concise format that includes multimedia and links."

See the entire list of winners at the NJ SPJ website HERE.

This marks the second such award for the website following last year's First Place honor in a similar category for coverage of Superintendent John Ramos, his past work, and questionable ties.

Maplewoodian.com will be honored at the annual NJ SPJ awards brunch on June 25 in Newark.

Thanks to all of our tipsters and readers. Your continued support keeps us going!
