DRUG BUST, AUTO CRIMES MARK WEEK

Sept. 27, 2011: Malicious Damage to Auto:  The rear window of a 1999 Cadillac was smashed sometime between 8:00 am and 5:45 pm on Tuesday.  The incident occurred when the car was sparked in the driveway of a home on Franklin Ave.  The owner of the car indicated to the Police that no items were removed from the auto.


Oct. 1, 2011: Narcotics Arrest- Tyquan Bunn, 28, of Ridgewood Ave., Newark, was taken into custody following a suspicious person call at the NJ Transit parking garage.  As officers made contact with Bunn at the parking garage ramp Bunn took off running in an attempt to flee from the officers.  Bunn was captured, after a short foot pursuit, attempting to scale the fence surrounding the Municipal Pool.  As the officers were placing Bunn in custody he began to fight with the Officers which resulted in injuries to Sgt. Dave Cross and Ptl. John Mazzola.
Once in custody Bunn was found to be in possession of several bags of marijuana and it was discovered that he had two outstanding warrants from Newark Police and the Essex County Sheriff’s Department.  Bunn was charge with: 3 counts of Aggravated Assault on Police Officers; Resisting Arrest; Eluding Police; Hindering Apprehension with False Information; Possession of Marijuana; and, Failure to Turn in CDS to Police.  He was later turned over to the Essex County Jail. 
The two officers were treated at St. Barnabas Medical Center for injuries and were later released.


Oct. 3, 2011: Theft from Auto- A 1998 Infiniti Q45 was broken into while parked on Van Ness Ct during the overnight hours.  The actor broke out the driver’s side front and rear window, gained entry to the auto, and removed a GPS unit and a MP3 player.
