ASSAULT, AUTO THEFTS, SHOPLIFTING MARK POLICE WEEK

From the Police Department today:








October 31, 2011: Assault. On 10-31-11, officers responded to a Springfield Avenue residence regarding a disturbance. Officers observed a subject running out of an apartment yelling, and heard what sounded like a verbal argument coming from above.
Officers field interviewed two subjects who stated to officers that they were attacked by the third floor tenant, Dwight Kane, age 45. After he was positively identified by the victims, Kane was arrested and transported to police headquarters on charges of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. The weapon was identified as a baseball bat. One victim was transported to UMDNJ hospital for evaluation.

October 31, 2011: Shoplifting (Arrest). On 10-31-11, officers responded to a Springfield Avenue store regarding a report of shoplifting of candy. Subsequent to investigation, Kaseem Williams, 40, of Munn Avenue, East Orange was arrested and charged with shoplifting.

October 2, 2011: Theft from Auto. On November 2, 2011, a South Pierson Road resident reported that an unknown suspect entered her unlocked vehicle and removed a Dell Laptop computer. The vehicle was parked in the driveway of the residence when the incident occurred.

October 2, 2011: Theft from Auto. On November 2, 2011, a Salter Place resident reported that between the hours of midnight and 9:00 am, unknown suspect(s) entered her unlocked vehicle and removed a Verizon I-Phone. The vehicle was parked in the driveway of the residence when the incident occurred.

October 5, 2011: Theft. On November 5, 2011, a Baker Street country club reported the theft of 18 tee box markers from the golf course south of Pierson Road. The total loss is approximately $900.00

October 5, 2011: Theft of vehicle. On November 5, 2011, officers responded to a Boyden Avenue residence on a report of a theft of a motor vehicle. The owner reported that her 1998 Jeep Cherokee was removed between 5:30 pm on 11/03/11 and 8:30 am on 11/04/11. The vehicle was later recovered by Newark PD.

October 7, 2011: Robbery. On November 7, 2011, a Maplewood juvenile reported that he was robbed as he walked home from Columbia High School. The juvenile advised that he was approached by a male who asked if he could hold a dollar. The victim advised that he told the male that he did not have a dollar, but after further conversation, handed the male four dollars.
