ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY, VEHICLE THEFT MARK POLICE WEEK

Maplewood Police released this Monday night.....



April 16, 2012: Motor Vehicle Theft. On 04/16/12, a Virginia resident reported that his 2004 Ford Pickup Truck was stolen from outside a Hilton Avenue residence. The owner reported that he had parked the vehicle at approximately 9:00 pm on 4/15/12 and discovered it missing at approximately 8:30 am on 4/16/12. On 4/19/12, the vehicle was recovered in Irvington.

April 17, 2012: Warrant Arrest. On 04/17/12, Officer M. Jones was conducting a R.A.D.A.R. detail in the area of Burnett Avenue when he observed a 2002 Ford Explorer traveling in excess of the speed limit. Officer Jones conducted a traffic stop, and learned that the driver, Alfred J, Elliot, 35, of 157 Norman Road, Newark was also operating with a suspended driver’s license. Further investigation revealed that Elliot was wanted by the Union County Sheriff’s Office. Upon confirmation, Elliot was arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing.

April 17, 2012: Theft. On 04/17/12, a Ridgewood Road resident reported that unknown suspect(s) removed a Garmin brand GPS unit from her unlocked vehicle between 9:15 pm on 4/10/12 and 7:30 am on 4/11/12. The GPS unit is valued at approximately $200.

April 18, 2012: Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft. On 04/18/12, a Rutgers Street resident reported that unknown suspect(s) had attempted to steal her 2005 Dodge which had been parked between 11:00 am and 11:00 pm this date. The suspect(s) apparently attempted to remove the ignition from the vehicle in order to start the vehicle.

April 21, 2012: Attempted Robbery. On 04/21/12, a taxi cab driver reported that he was the victim of an attempted robbery on Hausmann Court at approximately 1:30 am. The driver reported that as he pulled in front of a residence to pick up a fare, a black, 2 door Honda Civic pulled behind his taxi. The operator of the Honda then approached the victim and brandished a small black handgun. The male then pointed the gun at the victim and stated, “Give me what you got”. The taxi driver managed to flee the area and notify the police. The suspect is described as a dark complected black male in his early twenties wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with white lettering on the front. The Detective Bureau is investigating.

April 21, 2012: Warrant Arrest. On 04/21/12, Officer C. Kelly noticed a suspicious 2003 Honda Civic in a Millburn Avenue parking lot. Officer Kelly identified the driver as Annastasi A. Morgan, 22, of 3 Glenwood Place in Summit, NJ. A record check indicated that Morgan had an open warrant out of Chatham Borough. She was arrested, summoned and turned over to Chatham Borough Police Department.
