THEFT FROM A PORCH, DRUG ARREST AND SHOPLIFTING LEAD POLICE WEEK

Just released tonight from Maplewood Police...


April 2, 2012: Narcotics Arrest. On 4/02/12, officers responded to Nelson Place on a report of juveniles smoking CDS (Controlled Dangerous Substance). Upon arrival, officers observed a group of three males including one adult and two juveniles. Officers observed one of the subjects throw an object on the ground and upon examination, determined that the object was a cigar filled with suspected marijuana. After denying ownership, all three persons were transported to police headquarters on possession of marijuana charges.

April 3, 2012: Shoplifting (Arrest Made). On 4/03/12, officers responded to the Extra Supermarket located at 719 Irvington Ave. on a report of a shoplifting. Through a field investigation, officers learned that Robert Wright, 39, of 352 Kerrigan Blvd., Irvington, had allegedly attempted to conceal three Tide brand detergent bottles valued at $64.17. Wright was arrested and transported to police headquarters on charges of Shoplifting.

April 3, 2012: Theft. On 4/03/12, officers were flagged down by an employee of a Maplewood Avenue restaurant reporting the theft of restaurant linens. The employee reports that at approximately 11:38 am, he had observed a white male in his mid 50‘s with salt and pepper hair, pull up to a pickup bin located behind the restaurant in a blue or black full-sized cargo van before removing the items.

April 4, 2012: Package Theft. On 4/04/12, a Union Avenue resident responded to police headquarters to report that unknown suspect(s) apparently removed a package delivered to his front porch on 3/20/12. The package contained musical equipment, and was reportedly delivered between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm on that date.

April 5, 2012: Attempted Burglary. On 4/05/12, officers responded to a Kendal Avenue residence on a report of a suspicious condition. Upon investigation, officers determined that between 1:30 pm on 4/4/12 and 9:15 am on 4/5, unknown suspect(s) had removed a rear window screen by prying it away from the window. The Detective Bureau is investigating.
