REWARD OFFERED IN HIT AND RUN DEATH OF MAPLEWOOD MAN

Reward Offered in Hit & Run Death of Maplewood Man


Newark – Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura today announced that his department’s Crimestoppers program will pay a cash reward up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the hit and run fatality of a Maplewood resident which took place in Newark at approximately 11:45 p.m. on February 27, 2011.

Sheriff Fontoura said that Douglas Hodgson, age 47, had stopped on Routes 1 & 9 South, near the Pulaski Skyway, to change a tire on his vehicle when he was struck by a white 1998 Acura CL which fled the scene. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff noted that the suspect vehicle should display damage to the passenger front fender and mirror and a missing front passenger parking light.
