DOUBLE MURDER SUSPECT PLEADS NOT GUILTY

From NJ.com

MAPLEWOOD — A 27-year-old man pleaded not guilty today to an indictment charging he fatally stabbed his father and grandmother in their Maplewood home, then hid the bodies and threw a party for friends in the house.

Dwayne Flourney, who appeared in Superior Court in Newark, faces murder and weapons charges for the March 13 killing of Brian Flourney, 52, and Sandra Flourney, 76, in their Northview Terrace home, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.

Flourney was indicted in November, and is being held in Hudson County Jail because Brian Flourney had been employed with the Essex County Juvenile Detention Center.

Authorities say Dwayne Flourney killed Sandra then placed her body in the trunk of a car inside the home's garage. He then killed Brian a short time later, dragging his body to a sun porch and covering it with pillows and blankets, according to the criminal complaint. The same kitchen knife was used in both killings.

A motive remains unclear but in another bizarre twist, a Newark man and woman have since stepped forward claiming they are Dwayne’s biological parents. The woman, Linda Smith, said when Dwayne was in his early teens he was placed in the care of her sister.
