THE FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR
* PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT... NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY AND SOUTHEAST NEW YORK... INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS... IN SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT... NORTHERN FAIRFIELD... NORTHERN MIDDLESEX... NORTHERN NEW HAVEN... NORTHERN NEW LONDON... SOUTHERN FAIRFIELD... SOUTHERN MIDDLESEX... SOUTHERN NEW HAVEN AND SOUTHERN NEW LONDON. IN NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY... EASTERN BERGEN... EASTERN ESSEX... EASTERN PASSAIC... EASTERN UNION... HUDSON... WESTERN BERGEN... WESTERN ESSEX... WESTERN PASSAIC AND WESTERN UNION. IN SOUTHEAST NEW YORK... NORTHERN WESTCHESTER... ORANGE... PUTNAM... ROCKLAND AND SOUTHERN WESTCHESTER.
* FROM 8 AM EDT THIS MORNING THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING
* LOW PRESSURE WILL INTENSIFY AS IT APPROACHES FROM THE OHIO VALLEY TODAY... AND PASS SOUTH AND EAST OF LONG ISLAND TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING. THE LOW WILL BE SLOW TO MOVE OUT TO SEA ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND NIGHT. THIS SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO PRODUCE HEAVY RAIN AT TIMES WITH RAINFALL TOTALS RANGING FROM 1 1/2 TO 3 INCHES WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS... POSSIBLY UP TO 4 INCHES... DURING THIS TIME. THIS COULD RESULT IN FLOODING OF SMALL STREAMS... AS WELL AS URBAN AND POOR DRAINAGE FLOODING. MAIN STEM RIVERS MAY ALSO APPROACH BANKFULL.

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON CURRENT FORECASTS. YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.
