ST. JAMES GATE TO LOSE LIQUOR LICENSE FOR FIVE DAYS

St. James Gate, already under fire this year for the assault case that embroiled bartender James Meade Jr., will lose its liquor license for five days, following a 4-1 vote by the Township Committee Tuesday night.

TC member India Larrier voted against the suspension.

The TC, acting as the local Alcohol Beverage Control Board, approved the suspension after owner James Meade Sr. agreed to a plea deal that had him pleading guilty to improperly keeping records, but not to an initial charge of serving to a minor.

In the end, Meade pleaded guilty to three counts of the improper record keeping.

The suspension is set to be served July 15-19, but it can be appealed between now and then.
