THREE CELL PHONE THEFTS LEAD POLICE WEEK, ALONG WITH AUTO AND BURGLARY

This from Maplewood Police today:

July 21, 2013; Cell Phone Theft; At approximately 9:20 PM, a juvenile male on a bicycle approached a male pedestrian/Maplewood resident on Springfield Ave near Yale St.  The juvenile requested to use the victims cell phone.  Once given the phone, the juvenile described as between fifteen and eighteen years old, road off with the phone towards Prospect St. 

July 16, 2013: Cell Phone Theft; At approximately 8:20 PM, a juvenile male on a bicycle approached a female and Maplewood resident that was standing on Dunnell Rd and requested to use her cell phone.  When he was handed the phone, the juvenile that was described as being approximately seventeen years old, road off on his bicycle with the phone, South on Dunnell Rd.

July 19, 2013: Cell Phone Theft; At approximately 7 PM a juvenile male grabbed a fellow passengers cell phone before running off of the NJ Transit bus at Oberlin St and Springfield Ave.

July 15, 2013: Burglary; During the daytime hours force was used to enter a home on Overlook Ter.  Cash and a credit card were reported missing.

July 15, 2013: Burglary Attempt; A resident of Parker Ave returned home after being out during the day and found damage to a window, but no entry was gained to the home.

July 16, 2013: Theft from Motor Vehicle; During the overnight hours a stroller was removed from a vehicle parked in the driveway of a Parker Ave residence.  No forced entry was observed to the vehicle.

July 16, 2013: Theft from Motor Vehicle; During the overnight hours two vehicles parked in a driveway on Briarcliff Ct. were entered by force entry.  Change was reported to be missing.

July 18, 2013: Bicycle Theft; At approximately 8 PM a male juvenile was observed by a neighbor removing an unsecured bicycle from the rear of a home on Parker Ave.  The juvenile left the scene with the bicycle and was not able to be located.

July 18, 2013: Motor Vehicle Theft; At approximately 10:20 AM, a Ford Van  awaiting repair was taken from Richard’s Service Station on Springfield Ave.

July 19, 2013; Motor Vehicle Theft; Sometime between the moring of July 18th and the morning of July 19th, a Dodge Caravan was stolen from the parking lot of 50 Burnett Ave.
