ROBBERY LEADS BUSY POLICE CRIME WEEK

A robbery first reported on Maplewoodian.com last week leads this week's police crime report

The Maplewood Police reported today:

September 11, 2013: Robbery; An adult male and resident of Irvington was walking on Springfield Ave near Quick Chek at approximately 945 PM.  While walking he was approached by a group of teens, punched once in the face and his cell phone was stolen.  The group then fled towards Jacoby St.  The victim was not seriously injured.

In other crimes:

September 9, 2013: Burglary; Between 6PM and 730 PM, a home on Parker Ave was forcefully entered.  The homeowner reported that they returned home and found that cash, jewelry and electronics had been stolen from the home.

September 9, 2013: Burglary; Between 10AM and 12PM, a home on Van Ness Terr was forcefully entered and several items including an X-box were stolen.

September 9, 2013: Theft of Cell Phone; On September 10th, a resident of South Orange came to headquarters and reported that the previous night a male came from behind him and grabbed his cell phone and ran away. He reported that this occurred by Lexington Ave and Tuscan St at approximately 915 PM.

September 10, 2013: MV Theft; Officers responded and took a report of a stolen Dodge Caravan from 50 Burnett Ave.  The vehicle had not been seen in several days.  When it was entered stolen, it was discovered that it had already been recovered by Newark PD.

September 11, 2013: Burglary Attempt; A Prospect St resident reported that sometime during the day, someone attempted to push in their air conditioner. 

September 12, 2013: Theft from Vehicle; During the overnight hours a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence on Wetmore Ave had it’s window broken and a wallet stolen from inside the vehicle.

September 15, 2013: Bike Theft; Sometime over the previous few days a bicycle was removed from an unsecured garage on Hudson Ave
