TWO HANDGUN-INVOLVED INCIDENTS TOP CRIME WEEK

A scary week for some as two incidents on the street involving handguns, and both during evening hours on usually safe streets, took place in our town.

See them below among the week of crime issued by police today:

September 16, 2013: Robbery; At approximately 11 PM, an adult male and resident
of Vauxhall was walking in the area of Laurel Ave and Indiana St.  He was
approached by two males between the age of 20 and 25 that assaulted him and then pointed a handgun at him.  The suspects then went through his pockets and took his wallet and cell phone before fleeing on foot.

September 16, 2013: Attempt Purse Snatch; AT 545 PM, an adult female was walking on Boyden Ave near Elmwood Ave.  While walking, a male road his bike past the pedestrian and grabbed the shopping bag that she was carrying.  The handles of the bag ripped and the male continued to ride North on Boyden Ave and then East on Elmwood Ave without any proceeds.  The male is reported to be in his early 20’s and the bike was described as a mountain bike.

September 19, 2013: Attempt Robbery; At approximately 930 PM, an adult male and his adult daughter were exiting their vehicle on Essex Ave. While exiting the
vehicle, they were approached by two males that demanded the car keys and
displayed a handgun.  The actors then appeared to become nervous and fled
