Superintendent Brian Osborne brought up the issue of claims against SOMS Principal Joseph Uglialoro during his regular report at Monday's school board meeting, stating that the allegations raised last fall were found to be false following investigations by the school district and the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.
His comments are below:
But the mother of one of the girls who alleged the improper behavior, Genese Alicea, also spoke up and claimed the district's closing of the case was improper.
Her comments are below.
We had heard about the allegations as well earlier this year but chose not to report them as we were not able to obtain any records or reports, despite requesting them.
The activities of SOMS are relevant to Maplewood because numerous Maplewood students attend the school as part of the district's enrollment arrangement.
Good morning-
ReplyDeleteI would like to make something clear in that the District never conducted an investigation. He is stating the division of IAIU (AKA DYFS) has concluded THEIR investigation and based on this he is making his conclusion that these were false allegations and that Mr. Uglialoro was not in the girls Locker room. THAT IS A LIE!!!
Several students testified that he was there. What about the teacher that was there? She was interrogated as well. Is he saying she is lying too? The first parent that mentioned this was in the November 23 meeting and she said Mr. U called her to tell her he had walked into the girls locker room while her daughter was in there as well as others.
This just shows that the arrogant behavior shown to me by Mr. U is certainly the same behavior of Mr. Osborne. I am appalled!
We need our children to trust their school staff and feel confident to go to school so that they can have the safe learning environment that is promised to them.
Thanks for the viewpoint, could you give your name?
ReplyDeleteI am Genese Alicea. thanks!
DeleteThanks for identifying
ReplyDeleteThere are witnesses to this happening? And no one sees a problem with this!!! Ridiculous to say the least! Am I correct that this isn't the first time this principal has pulled a stunt like that?
ReplyDeleteIf I was this child's parents I would call the news and get more attention on the issue. Maybe than something will be done.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get your video from? There is nothing on the district website.
ReplyDeleteThe parents of the girls that were in the locker room and all the parents of the school should go to the news and raise hell. This kind of action by a staff member should not be tolerated. Get together and go to the news or your council people or Mayor. Jump on it now before something happens.
ReplyDeleteWe videotaped it ourselves Monday night, but the entire meeting should be available on the district website.
