DAYLIGHT ASSAULT, ROBBERY AND ARREST LEADS POLICE WEEK

From Maplewood Police today:
  
April 6, 2014; Robbery; At approximately 5:30 PM, an adult male and Maplewood resident was walking on Prospect St near Plymouth Ave when he was approached by two males that asked him for directions before assaulting and robbing him of his phone and backpack. The males then entered a black SUV and fled East on Plymouth Ave. postman was delivering mail on Laurel Ave near Franklin Terr. The victim was uninjured. Investigation by the Detective Bureau led to the development of a suspect and suspect vehicle. The vehicle was located by Irvington Police Department the following day occupied by a 17 year old juvenile from Newark and Sean Williams age 18 of Newark. This led to charges related to the robbery for both individuals.

April 2, 2014; Burglary; During the morning hours, entry was made to a home on Hausmann Ct through the unsecured attached garage. Electronics were reportedly stolen.

 April 6, 2014; Burglary; At approximately 230 AM a business on Newark Way was forcefully entered and multiple tools and equipment were stolen.

 April 7, 2014; Burglary; At 1:30 PM officers responded to an alarm activation on Menzel Ave. Upon their arrival, it was found that the home had been burglarized. Two males fitting the description of possible actors were detained in front of a nearby residence. Following the investigation on scene, the two individuals were arrested for the burglary and the stolen items were recovered. The arrestees were Jabri Lee age 19 of Maplewood and Keith Harris age 21 of Newark.
