ARMED ROBBERY, SUSPICIOUS FIRE AND BURGLARIES MARK POLICE WEEK
From Maplewood Police today:
June 5, 2014: Robbery; At approximately 1030 PM, two adult males that were walking on Burnett Ave were robbed. The were approached by two males in their late teens or early twenties that displayed a handgun and demanded their belongings. The victims turned over two cell phones, wallets and a necklace. The actors then fled towards Union on Burnett Ave. The victims were not injured.
June 4, 2014; Burglary to Garage; Between June 2nd and 4th, a garage on Lombardy Pl was forcibly entered and a large number of model cars were stolen.
June 4, 2014; Suspicious Fire; At approximately 945 PM, officers and the MFD responded to a fire in the rear of a Berkley St home. The fire was quickly extinguished and did not cause severe damage to the home. The fire was deemed suspicious and is being investigated by the detective bureau as well as the Essex County prosecutors Office.
June 5, 2014; Burglary; During the overnight hours an unsecured residence on Prospect St was entered and a purse removed from the first floor.
June 7, 2014; Bicycle Theft; Between 3 and 345 PM a bicycle was removed from an open garage on Boyden Ave.
