STUDENT HOSPITALIZED AFTER INCIDENT AT CLINTON SCHOOL POOL PARTY

Emergency Response at the Maplewood Community Pool

Maplewood, NJ June 19, 2014:  The Maplewood Community Pool lifeguards made an emergency response to a child in the water. This was during a private party held for the Clinton Elementary School at approximately 11:25AM.

According to reports and witness accounts the 11 year old male child went down the enclosed pool slide was not able to keep his head above water and had trouble resurfacing. 

The child did not respond when tapped on his shoulder by a friend and a Maplewood Township lifeguard blew her whistle and activated the Emergency Action Plan. 

The Emergency Medical Services were called and arrived shortly and took the child to Beth Israel Hospital in Newark, NJ for further medical care.
