TOWNSHIP LOWERS FLAGS TO HONOR JERSEY CITY COP

If you were wondering why township flags are being flown at half staff today, it's not for any local person who has passed (thank goodness) but to honor Jersey City Police Officer Melvin Santiago, who was shot and killed on Sunday.

Gov. Chris Christie ordered that such flags be lowered in his honor and Maplewood complied, according to Town Hall.
