NO RELIGIOUS INFLUENCE IN SCHOOLS SUPE PICK

We posted an item this week noting that focus groups were being formed by the search firm hired to find a new schools superintendent.

Among the categories for focus groups is one labeled "faith leaders." You can see it above on the right schedule.

One would assume that this means perhaps religious leaders or heads of local churches.

If so, we can firmly oppose any involvement of religious leaders in the choosing of a schools superintendent. We need no influence from any people of faith in determining who is chosen.

We reached out to School Board President Beth Daugherty to ask what the faith leaders would be. She emailed back that changes may be done to that approach, stating, "More info on focus groups coming soon."

This may have just been a standard outline the search firm uses. If not, it must be changed.
