ONE YEAR LATER DRUNK DRIVING VICTIMS REMEMBERED

Friends makeshift memorial for 2013 crash
One year ago today the tragic deaths of Tamir Harry and Kevin Noel in a drunk driving accident at Essex Avenue and South Fourth Street in Maplewood sparked outrage and sadness.

While the alleged assailant, Harrison Allen of Montclair, was arrested and charged, the grief remains. Township officials have since authorized the construction of a four-way stop at the site.

Family members will join with township officials and residents to remember those who died in that Aug. 6, 2013 incident during a special event at 6:30 p.m. tonight in Memorial Park near the basketball courts and the field house.

The location will also be the site of trees and memorial plaques to be installed by the township to honor them.
