WHY IS THAT NJ TRANSIT POLICE TOWER THERE?

You might have wondered, as we did, why the New Jersey Transit Police erected a rather large tower at the Maplewood train station.

No, it's not some new high crime response, according to NJ Transit Spokesperson Nancy Snyder. She said it's just part of routine monitoring of safety down the line.

She tells us, "The police towers are stationed throughout the system in support of NJTPD's crime prevention efforts. We randomly place the towers at different locations."
