THREE NEW FIRMS NOW VYING FOR DELAYED POST OFFICE DEVELOPMENT

Just two weeks after the township revealed that the developers slated to develop the site of the Maplewood Village post office had pulled out of the deal, Mayor Vic De Luca announced that the township had chosen three other developers to negotiate for the space, and said the original proposal for retail/housing would still be built by one of the other firms.

At Tuesday night's Township Committee meeting De Luca offered the update. He also said health concerns by one of the previous developers had been part of the reason for L&M Development to drop the plan.

He said the screening committee formed to review the other proposed firms would negotiate with them and hold a meeting with them on October 22, with a firm chosen by Nov. 5.
