MAPLECREST PARK ARMED ROBBERY, TRAIN STATION PURSE SNATCH MARK POLICE WEK

From Maplewood Police today:


October 30, 2014; Robbery; At approximately 8:30 PM, two adult females that were in Maplecrest Park were approached by two males with masks.  One of the males displayed a handgun, escorted the victims two their vehicle and then stole their cell phones and purses.  Neither female was injured. 

October 29, 2014; Attempt Purse Snatch; At approximately 7 AM a female was sitting on a bench on the Maplewood Ave side of the train station.  A male ran towards her and attempted to grab her purse before fleeing down the stairs of the train station.  The male was unsuccessful in his attempt.

October 30, 2014; Robbery; At approximately 3:50 PM a resident was walking on Hudson Ave.  While doing so, he was approached by two males that took his cell phone from him.  The males then fled in an older model tan vehicle. Det Rella observed a vehicle fitting the description travel into South Orange. SO Police, Det. Rella and other officers were able to follow the suspect vehicle West on South Orange Ave until it eventually pulled over. The vehicle was found to be stolen out of Newark.  Both actors were arrested and charged with robbery. The cell phone was recovered.  The actors were 21 y/o  Michael Reid of Irvington and 28 y/o Dwayne Ballard of Newark.

October 29, 2014; Burglary; Sometime between 10/27 and 10/29 two apartments in a two family home on Jacoby St were entered and electronics were reportedly stolen. 
 
October 29, 2014; Bike Theft;  Between 12 and 2:30 PM a bicycle was stolen from the rear yard of a home on Wellesley St.
 
November 2, 2014; Stolen Motor Vehicle; Between 11 PM on 11/1 and 11:30 AM, a VW was stolen from the driveway of a home on Hudson Ave.
