STAR-LEDGER SPOTLIGHTS MAPLEWOOD CHEF/AUTHOR

Photo:NJ.com
The Star-Ledger gives some love today to our own local chef/author Rick Rodgers.

In a great profile, the piece states:

What would you expect to find in the kitchen of a cookbook author who has traveled the nation to talk turkey for Thanksgiving and beyond?

Six roasting pans might not be surprising since he was Perdue's official turkey spokesman, and his first cookbook 24 years ago promised ''138 ways to cook America's favorite bird.'' That was followed by “Thanksgiving 101,” “50 Stuffings and Dressings,” and other volumes on holiday feasts. His new cookbook, "The Big Book of Sides" (Ballantine, $30), also has many ideas for the Turkey Day spread.

It wouldn't be a stretch to call Rick Rodgers “Mr. Thanksgiving,” but what you'll find in the kitchen of his Maplewood home speaks to the needs and tastes of a guy who frequently stepped away from his roasting pans. Rodgers has penned more than 40 cookbooks, and his hands have been on about as many others as co-author, ghost writer or recipe tester. His cookbooks have covered brownies, fondue, grilling, meatballs, comfort foods and much more.

Read it all HERE.

Rodgers will also be at Words Books Saturday night selling copies of his latest work, The Big Book of Sides.
