If you are wondering what the Stigma-Free signs around town are for, this should give you the answer.
At the request of State Sen. Richard Codey, a longtime mental health supporter, the Stigma-Free program was launched in an effort to promote help to the mentally ill and in a way that lifts any stigma some might feel.
Codey's letter to the Township below explains it, followed by the resolution the Township Committee passed last Summer.
I was taken aback by the signs. I feel that the message is not there. I also have to wonder if we are not going to see this type of messaging on every corner for every cause that has a person with political pull behind their cause. I believe the money could have been better spent on funding research and solutions for those suffering.
