PODCAST: HEALTH OFFICER ROBERT ROE ON HIS 25 YEARS IN TOWN

We caught up with Maplewood Health Officer Robert Roe, who is celebrating 25 years on the job this year.

He chatted with us about his time in the top health department post.

Among his revelations:

1. The Township used to have a baby clinic for vaccinations, but dropped it when it went federal, and also provided nurse services for local private schools.

2. The Township continues to get one or two new AIDS cases nearly every year.

3. We were among the first municipalities in the nation to institute strict limits on lead paint use.

He also discussed the positive impacts of Obamacare, which his own sons are now on.
