SCHOOL BOARD STUDENT REP ON CHS PROTESTS AND "SELF-SEGREGATION"

During a lengthy update on CHS happenings, she informed the board of several peaceful protests that were held at Columbia in the aftermath of the recent deadly police shootings of unarmed black men around the country.

But more than that, Kritzberg said several student forums were held in addition to the protests that revealed concerns among many students of what she termed a "self-segregated" existence at the high school. She said much of it is blamed on leveling and a system that she contends makes some African-Americans feel they must work harder than others for the same treatment.
