TC APPROVES COLD WEATHER DOORS, BUT BANS PORTABLE BASKETBALL HOOPS

The Township Committee on Tuesday agreed to allow temporary weather doors during the winter months, a change in the current ban on such doors that was agreed to following a request for change by the Maplewood Village Alliance.

The TC formally authorized the building department to allow the temporary doors and directed Township officials to prepare a resolution for the change that will be voted on at the next regular meeting in January.

But at the same time, the Township agreed to re-instate the ban on portable basketball hoops, which had been allowed during the fall after several residents objected to the previous fines for such items.

TC member India Larrier, who serves on the Code Enforcement Committee, told the TC that "it's time for them to come down." 

Members said they would revisit the issue in the spring.
