ESSEX COUNTY RANKS AMONG UNHEALTHIEST PLACES TO LIVE IN N.J.

Essex County ranked near the bottom of healthiest places to live in New Jersey in a new study released this week by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation that put us 17th out of the state's 21 counties in length of life, quality of life, health care and social and economic factors.

But it did improve.

According to NJ.com:

Essex County improved the most, going from 20th to 17th out of 21 counties, thanks in part because violent crime, the number of uninsured people, and average length of a hospital stay declined. More residents also received mammographies and screenings for diabetes. Essex is still near the bottom, however, because child poverty, unemployment and adult obesity rates rose, according to the study
