Main Library – Environmental Film Festival Tuesdays in April join us for award winning Environmental Films including Chasing Ice, Elemental, Trashed, and Vanishing of the Bees. All films are screened at 3:30 pm and at 7:00 pm in Memorial Hall.Tuesday April 7 — Chasing Ice – Chasing Ice is the story of one man’s mission to change the tide of history by gathering undeniable evidence of our changing planet. Within months of that first trip to Iceland, the photographer conceived the boldest expedition of his life: The Extreme Ice Survey.
Tuesday April 14 — Elemental Revered by the New York Times as “A Last Stand for Nature Against Mighty Odds.” Elemental tells the story of three individuals united by their deep connection with nature and driven to confront some of the most pressing ecological challenges of our me.
Tuesday April 21 – Vanishing of the Bees Vanishing
of the Bees follows commercial beekeepers David Hackenberg and Dave
Mendes as they strive to keep their bees healthy and fulfill pollination
contracts across the U.S. The film explores the struggles they face as
the two friends plead their case on Capitol Hill and travel across the
Pacific Ocean in the quest to protect their honeybees.
Tuesday April 28 — Trashed In
Trashed, Jeremy Irons sets out to discover the extent and effects of
the global waste problem, as he travels around the world to beautiful
destinations tainted by pollution. This is a meticulous, brave
investigative journey that takes Irons (and us) from scepticism to
sorrow and from horror to hope.
