MAPLEWOOD BICYCLIST HIT BY CAR IN CHATHAM




CHATHAM — A bicyclist was hit by a car as the driver tried to turn into the Bean Curd Restaurant during rush hour Wednesday.
 
Police responded to Fairmount Avenue near Main Street at 5:39 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, in response to a call that a bicyclist had been hit by a car.

Chatham resident Sally Kelly, who was driving a 2002 Subaru, was trying to turn into the parking lot of the Bean Curd Restaurant when her car hit the bike rider, who was traveling in the opposite direction.

The bicyclist, a 48-year-old-man from Maplewood who was wearing a helmet, suffered a leg injury and was transported to Morristown Medical Center by the Chatham Emergency Squad. 

Kelly was issued a summons for Careless Driving.
