SCHOOL BOARD ENDS IB PROGRAM ON SPLIT VOTE

The School Board on Monday night voted to end the troubled International Baccalaureate program, 6-3, but not without some disagreements.

The move followed months of complaints from middle school students and teachers about the program, which has cost nearly $200,000 of district funds and was seen as a bad fit for the district.

While the majority of board members agreed to end it, those who opposed the ending were Elizabeth Baker, Maureen Jones and Stephanie Lawson-Muhammad.
