CHS WEAPONS ARREST POLICE REPORT REVEALS DETAILS

An airsoft gun similar to that in the CHS arrest

The Columbia High School student arrested last week on a weapons possession charge was carrying an airsoft gun in a backpack and a knife in his front pants pocket, according to the police report of the incident.

But when school officials detained the unidentified 9th-grader, they believed only that he had a handgun and did not know it was an airsoft gun until police arrived and searched his backpack.

The report of the June 4 arrest also indicated the student was involved in an earlier incident, but offers no details on what that incident was.
