CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TO HONOR JIM BUCHANAN THURSDAY

The Maplewood Chamber of Commerce will hold its Annual Distinguished Service Award Dinner on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the Maplewood Country Club starting at 6:30 pm. This year’s honoree is Jim Buchanan.

Jim has been a Maplewood resident since childhood. He was a 1960 Columbia High School graduate and after studies at Montclair State College began a 34-year career in Music Education in both Bloomfield, NJ and Caldwell-West Caldwell Public Schools.

Jim became more active in the Community after retiring from teaching in 1997. Jim served as Music Director/Conductor for Youth Orchestras of Essex County from 1983-2003 and as Maplewood’s Cultural Affairs Supervisor from 2001-2006. He enjoys volunteering with Hilton Neighborhood Association, 1978 Arts Center, Maplewood Community Music (co-founder), MapleWoodstock, Maplewood Pool Concert Series, and various other music and arts production events.


For over 80 years the Maplewood Chamber has been honored to serve the interests of the business community and as our mission states, “…encourage the entrepreneurial spirit and foster a positive image of Maplewood.”
