MAPLEWOOD FALLS IN NJ MONTHLY STATE RANKING

While Maplewood Village has been crowned as one of the best downtowns in the state by New Jersey Monthly -- and is in a battle to be number one via their online poll -- Maplewood as a town has fallen in the magazine's other ranking.

The monthly publication's bi-annual Best Places to Live ratings were released in the new September issue, and posted online just today.

The rankings are based on property taxes, median home price, crime rates, and, ridiculously, three state standardized tests.

Under these criteria, the magazine ranked Maplewood 230th out of 510 towns, down from a 179th ranking in 2013. See below:
