MAPLEWOOD TEEN ROBBED ON NJ TRANSIT BUS

A Maplewood teen riding on a NJ Transit bus was robbed of a backpack and his wallet today by a group of teens who boarded the bus in Newark and fled with his property.

NJ Transit Spokeswoman Nancy Snyder said the incident occurred aboard the #25 bus in the area of Market and Broad streets in Newark at about 1 p.m. today, but the 19-year-old unidentified man did not report it until he exited the bus in Maplewood.

Snyder said the victim first reported it to Maplewood Police, but the case was later handled by NJ Transit Police. The suspects are three to four males who were not wearing shirts at the time, one with a red hat and a gray backpack.

Anyone with information is asked to call 1-888-847-7658.
