TEACHERS UNION CONTRACT DEAL REACHED

The South Orange Maplewood Education Association and the Board of Education have reached an agreement for a new contract, according to a notice on the SOMEA website.

It stated:

Great News to kick off the school year.

We are proud to announce that we will start the 2015-2016 school year having reached a tentative agreement between the South Orange / Maplewood Educational Association and the Board of Education. We will work to establish salary guides within the next couple of weeks in order to bring the contract to you for ratification.

Sincerely,
The Negotiations Team,

The last agreement, which ended June 30, 2015, was a two-year deal reached in June 2014 that included a raise just over 4 percent that was retroactive to the previous year.

Details have not been released on the new plan and are expected once the agreement is ratified.
