TOWNSHIP APPOINTS POST OFFICE "MITIGATION" COMMITTEE

In an apparent attempt to counter some recent stories related to difficulties with the Maplewood Village Post Office project, and some signs of sloppy work, the Township has created what it calls a Construction Mitigation Committee.

A notice Friday announced the committee, which was apparently created without any input from residents or a chance for residents to be appointed.

Those on the committee include several township officials, one resident and two Maplewood Village merchants.

See the notice below:

Post Office Redevelopment Project: Construction Mitigation
In an effort to keep Maplewood residents and visitors to our community aware of upcoming construction activities at the former post office site at 160 Maplewood Avenue, the Township created this web page. As the construction project moves forward, we will provide the most up to date information available, including the timing of demolition and construction, pedestrian and vehicular circulation, parking availability, and all matters affecting public safety that will impact the village during demolition and construction. The Township will also utilize email and its social media outlets: Facebook and Twitter.

Purpose of Committee
The Construction Mitigation Committee (CMC) was established to address issues related to the demolition of the former post office building at Maplewood Avenue and construction of the new building in its place. The CMC is comprised of Township Staff, the Maplewood Village Alliance District Manager, Merchants and Residents. The CMC meets weekly.

The webpage can be found HERE.
