POST OFFICE DEMOLITION TO BEGIN MONDAY, PARKING TO BE REDUCED

The long-awaited demolition of the former Maplewood Post Office, to make way for a new housing/retail complex, will begin on Monday, according to a notice from the Township.

It indicates parking will be reduced on both sides of the building during the first steps Monday and Wednesday

See it below:

On Monday, May 9, JMF will remove trees and shrubs in the Ricalton Square lot and on the Village Coffee side of 160 Maplewood Ave. They expect the work to start between 8-8:30 a.m., and end by noon.

While this work is being done, the parking spots directly adjacent to the building will be unavailable. This includes the spots on the Ricalton Square side, from the entrance to the Ricalton lot back to the tracks, including the spots along the loading zone. In the Village Coffee lot, the spots directly adjacent to the building will be unavailable.

The MPD will have signs posted from early morning, and be present at the site during work time to assist with circulation.

On Wednesday, May 11, JMF will remove the curbing on the Park side of the entrance to Ricalton Square.  Park side spots in south Ricalton Square lot will be closed, and parking along the loading dock will also be closed.  Parking spots along the building closest to Maplewood Avenue will still be available, and there will be circulation through the Ricalton lot as usual.

The is just the first step toward the eventual three-story, 20-apartment, five-retail store building.
