TWO ROBBERIES -- ONE ARMED, ONE VIA INTERNET MEET-UP -- LEAD POLICE WEEK

From Maplewood Police today:

May 15, 2016; Robbery; At approximately 1 AM, a 33 year old Maplewood resident that was walking in the area of Orchard Rd and Parker Ave was approached by two black males wearing partial masks.  The males pointed a long barreled gun at the victim and demanded his belongings.  The males then fled on foot with the victim’s phone, driver’s license and passport.  The victim was not injured. 

May 11, 2016; Robbery; At approximately 2:45 AM a male victim responded to the 200 block of Franklin Ave to meet up with a female he had met online.  Once he arrived, he was met by a male that pushed an object into his side, reported he had a gun and stole money from the victim.  The victim was not injured.  Through investigation, Adam Kitchens, age 23 of Irvington was arrested the same day and charged with robbery and weapons charges.  He was later transferred to Essex County Jail.

May 12, 2016; Shoplifting; At approximately 1:15 PM a male entered, 7-11 on Irvington Ave, grabbed a box of lighters and then fled on foot.

May 14, 2016; Motor Vehicle Theft; Sometime of the previous three day, a Jeep Liberty was stolen from a parking lot on the 1800 block of Springfield Ave.  The vehicle was later recovered in Newark.

 May 10, 2016; Theft from Auto; During the overnight hours an unsecured vehicle parked on Orchard Rd was entered.  A wallet, a gaming system and clothing were reportedly stolen.
