JERSEY CITY MAN ARRESTED IN WELLS FARGO BANK ROBBERY ATTEMPT

From Maplewood Police today:

On 7/20, at approximately 12:30 PM, Maplewood Police Dispatch received a call of a male running from the Wells Fargo Bank on Maplewood Ave and being chased by a second male.  Officers responded to the area and to the bank and discovered that a male had passed a note to a teller demanding money.  No threats were made and no weapons were observed or implied. 


The male observed running from the bank by the caller was the actor and he was being followed by an employee of the bank.  A license plate of the vehicle the actor entered was obtained prior to it fleeing the scene.  


Through investigation the actor was identified as the owner of the vehicle, 37 year old John Walsh of Jersey City.  He was taken into custody approximately an hour later. Maplewood Detectives processed and charged the actor with robbery and criminal attempt to commit robbery.
