Water Main Rehabilitation Project

New Jersey American water began conducting 2016 Water system Improvements in Maplewood Township earlier this summer. This work includes cleaning and lining of water mains.

The project is scheduled from June 2016 thru September 2016.

The work will take place on Valley Street between Tuscan Road and Millburn Avenue, on Millburn Avenue between Valley Street and Main Street in Millburn, on Crypress Street between Millburn Avenue and Myrtle Avenue in Millburn, and on the full lengths of Cedar Lane and East Cedar Lane.

Residents are encouraged to consider alternate routes during construction.

Please see here for additional information regarding Street Closures in Maplewood related to this project.

During this time, NJAW's contractor will be cleaning and lining water main on Maplewood streets. Cleaning and lining is the process of removing sediment from inside a water main, then lining the inner surface of the main with cement. This procedure significantly improves the reliability of water service, water quality and fire flows in the area.

As part of the project, NJAW will also be replacing fire hydrants, valves and any service lines from the main to the curb box that are made of galvanized iron pipe. NJAW assured the Township earlier this week that their contractor will work quickly and diligently to minimize inconvenience to residents.
